Leicestershire junior coach Alan Agnew (above left) will be available for coaching following junior championship rounds from Tuesday 25th to Saturday 29th July. Coaching will take place at a sectioned-off area of the Food Village on campus. Alan will be joined by coach Michael Green (second from the left) for morning rounds, and Lewis Turner (second from the right). Players should bring the score from their games if possible. Alan will also be joined by FM Jonathan Blackburn (above right) for a junior group coaching session on the afternoon of Thursday 27th July.
All players in the junior championship are welcome to attend the post-round or group coaching sessions. Juniors should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
During each of the morning sessions, there will be a chess lesson in the sectioned off area of the Food Village at approximately 11.00am on the following topics.

Black and White Square weaknesses – led by Alan Agnew (Head Coach Leicestershire Junior Chess)
Imbalances – led by Michael Green (FIDE Instructor)
Sticky Squares and Velcro Pawns led by Michael Green (FIDE Instructor)
… and on Thursday afternoon (1.00pm to 5.00pm) Alan Agnew and Jonathan Blackburn will be doing game reviews and a lesson on ‘Visualization’
Junior Simul
GM Keith Arkell will be hosting a junior simul starting at 6.30 on the evening of Tuesday 25th July at the Food Village/staff common room. This will be open to all juniors taking part in the junior championships or any of the British tournaments. Entries are now closed …
